Fossilization is an exceptionally rare occurrence. After death, organisms tend to decompose quickly. What scavengers like vultures and hyenas leave behind, flies, ants, worms, and bacteria quickly consume. Scientist Olivia Judson provides this good example of what happens to an adult male gorilla in the tropical rainforests of the Congo; “An adult male gorilla— all pounds of him—will be reduced to a pile of bones and hair within 10 days of his death. Within three weeks, there will be nothing left but a few small bones. Trace fossils are the marks left by a living organism, such as feces, footprints or impressions of feathers or leaves. Organisms usually need to be covered by mud, sand, tar or some other sediment as soon as possible or frozen or dessicated dried out for fossilization to occur.

This profile contained fictitious information about plaintiff, an actress, as well as accurate contact information and photographs of her. This information was posted in response to a form questionnaire prepared by defendant to which all users of its service had to respond. These claims arose out of the posting of a dating profile by a third party on the defendants’ Matchmaker website, which profile allegedly contained fictious information about plaintiff, as well as accurate contact information and photographs of her.

This information was posted in response to a form questionnaire prepared by defendants to which site members had to respond. The court rejected defendants’ argument that plaintiff’s claims were barred by application of Section of the Communications Decency Act. While the defendants were “interactive service providers” within the meaning of the statute by virtue of their operation of the Matchmaker website, defendants were not entitled to the statute’s protection because of the role they played in originating the content in question.

Such protections are available only as to claims arising out of information provided by an information content provider other than the defendant. The court barred defendants from using the CDA as a shield because the information in question was posted in response to a questionnaire prepared by defendants. Nonetheless, the court dismissed each of the claims raised by plaintiff against defendants.

Plaintiff’s invasion of privacy claim failed because the information in question, her address, was “newsworthy,” making its publication non-actionable. The defamation claim was dismissed because, given plaintiff’s status as a public figure, she could not show that defendants acted with actual malice in publishing the statements in question, a prerequisite to such a claim. Such malice was absent because defendants were unaware of the information contained in “plaintiff’s” profile at the time it was posted to defendants’ site by a third party, and thus did not entertain any serious doubt as to its truth at the time it was published.

Tablet from the Library of Ashurbanipal containing part of the Epic of Gilgamesh The first libraries consisted of archives of the earliest form of writing —the clay tablets in cuneiform script discovered in temple rooms in Sumer , [3] [4] some dating back to BC. There is also evidence of libraries at Nippur about BC and those at Nineveh about BC showing a library classification system.

The tablets were stored in a variety of containers such as wooden boxes, woven baskets of reeds, or clay shelves. The “libraries” were cataloged using colophons, which are a publisher’s imprint on the spine of a book, or in this case a tablet. The colophons stated the series name, the title of the tablet, and any extra information the scribe needed to indicate. Eventually, the clay tablets were organized by subject and size.

Unfortunately, due to limited to bookshelf space, once more tablets were added to the library, older ones were removed, which is why some tablets are missing from the excavated cities in Mesopotamia.

While the singles group laments that people are not willing to make a commitment, those who are married seem all too familiar with how to break up. Sociologists suggest that the more people grow up observing or living through their parents’ divorces, the less able they will be to make a commitment themselves. That is eminently understandable: If one has never observed married love lasting through good and bad times, how will one be able to live it?

Especially if one has spent his or her adolescence learning how to break up. Learning how to break up? That is what the contemporary dating scene, America’s excuse for a courtship process, teaches. Among some evangelical Protestants, the marriage preparation requirements of the Catholic Church are objects of envy. Michael McManus, the leader of the Marriage Savers movement, understands that the longer the wait, and the more extensive the preparation, the more likely that a mismatched engagement will be broken—and that is a victory for marriage.

The Halifax Central Library , a modern public library. The modern public library grew at a great pace at the end of the 19th century especially in the English-speaking world. Philanthropists and businessmen, including John Passmore Edwards , Henry Tate and Andrew Carnegie , helped to fund the establishment of large numbers of public libraries for the edification of the masses. Public libraries in North America developed from the 18th century to today; as the country grew more populous and wealthier, factors such as a push for education and desire to share knowledge led to broad public support for free libraries.

In addition, money donations by private philanthropists provided the seed capital to get many libraries started. In some instances, collectors donated large book collections.
